Harrison hosts several events throughout the year, including Crawdad Days Music Festival in May, the annual Arkansas Hot Air Balloon races in September, Harvest Homecoming Festival in October, and a Christmas celebration in December. Other notable events include the Annual Bluegrass Festival and the Fire in the Sky Fourth of July Celebration.

Points of Interest

The Harrison Courthouse Square District, which still houses original government and commercial structures, has been recognized by the National Trust for Historic Preservation. One notable building is the Harrison courthouse, which remains in use to this day and is located in the center of the square. Harrison is also relatively close to Branson, Missouri, a family vacation hotspot, and the popular tourist town Eureka Springs, Arkansas.

The Buffalo National River is the first river to ever be listed as a National River.

Arts and Theatre

Established in 1996, the Ozark Arts Council strives ‘to enrich lives by promoting the arts in Harrison and North Arkansas through exhibitions, performances, and education'. The Ozark Arts Council provides support and donations to organizations such as The Theatre Company, Twentieth Century Club, Woman’s Book Club, Ozark Children’s Choir, Northark Drama, and the historic Lyric Theatre, which originally opened as a movie theater in 1929, but is now used to host plays and other community events.

Educational establishments in Harrison include Woodland Heights Elementary School, Skyline Heights Elementary School, Forest Heights Elementary School, Eagle Heights Elementary School, Harrison Middle School, Harrison High School, and Harrison Alternative School. North Arkansas College (Northark) is also located in Harrison.
